Bench of Ferdinand Vaněk, visualization of bench, material: corten, 2016.
This bench depict absurdity of person Ferdinand Vaněk. Paradoxes and absurdities are the main theme of Václav Havel theatre plays, such as Audience, where is the main character Ferdinand Vaněk. The bench is paradoxical in sense that we can not sit on it. The main idea of the whole project is to stretched the shape to the height of eight meters. The bench is made by simple geometric shapes, for aesthetic and practical purposes. It emphasizes the size of the personality of Václav Havel. The bench also plays with the idea of how far we can go. The bench would be made by corten because of the revolutionary as the character of Václav Havel himself. Corten was elected not only for the idea but also for practical reasons. The place where the bench would be built is park of the National Technical Library in Prague, Dejvice. The park itself lacks any accent and the bench would be the dominant element. This place emphasizes the absurdity of the bench that we can not sit and read a book.
Object made for old factory building Mosilana, Brno, spring semester, spools and knitting needles, 2016.
Needling is an object made by spools and needles. I have used material that follows the past of Mosilana former textile factory, which was located in this place. Spools from yarn come from the textile factory AB-tex, where is this material throw away as a waste. Their colour is chosen randomly, according to the availability of the largest amount of the same colours. Their colour is determined by the softness of the yarn. The connection material is knitting needles, which violently intersect each spool. The shape is based on the possibility that the material permits. Therefore the work in a way responds to the decline of the textile industry in Brno and the shape follows this idea. The biggest development of the textile factories in Brno took place during the interwar period, there were about 40 woollen factories. After the Second World War Ministry of Industry made decree about joining of private companies. Vlněna and Mosilana originated by nationalizing and joining of some former originally Jewish and German private factories. Most of the textile industry in Brno after 1989 gradually disappeared. NEW Mosilana owner becomes the Italian group Marzotto Group. Although this work does not solve the problem of dilapidated buildings of the former Moravian Manchester, it evokes the contrast between the old gray past and colourful present.
Watercollour painting, Spring semester, 2016.
These paintings depict my favorite places, but instead of classic paintings of these places I used shapes of contour lines.
Gyps, wax, wood, soapy matter, polystyrene, 2016.
In my work I deal with all aspects of the lost form. I express not only my personal mood, but literally I am creating molds for sculpting technique called lost or blind form. I am exhibiting a mold, which is predetermined to be break. I caught that moment just before uncovering the inside. The viewer is in the role of a blind man and can only guess what is inside the mold. However we can see some pieces of things from inside on the surface and they can help us to gueas what could be inside. I let the viewer to use their own fantasies and imagine what shapes is gypsum mold hiding. These forms are 1:10 models for larger sculptures. Furthermore, I am working with the idea of how to get information from inside to space around them. I used light what is inside the empty space to project the information from inside to outside. Another idea is to use heating element to get the material (wax) out. Another possibility is to use wood that absorbs water and break the mold. The last form could be with soapy matter who becomes damp.
